Welcome to the Rings Node Catalog

The Rings Node Catalog provides tools to help you identify data products that are relevant to a particular study of planetary ring systems.

Multi-Mission Search

This is version 1.0. It supports Cassini (CIRS, ISS, VIMS), New Horizons (LORRI), Galileo (SSI) and Voyager (ISS) observations of Jupiter, Saturn, Uranus, Neptune, and Venus (Cassini ISS & VIMS). Future versions will extend the support to other PDS Rings Node data holdings (e.g., all HST observatons of the outer planets).

This is a form based search engine more powerful than our other tools. It allows the user to select a wide range of parameters and provides the capability to view thumbnails of the results (ISS) and to view movies of sequences of images. User selected results, both data files and user tailored tables of metadata, will be bundled into tar.gz files for download.

Please make suggestions, provide comments, and identify any problems you encounter using the "contact us" button at the top of the search pages, or by contacting Mark or Mitch directly.

General Catalog

Select any type of ring data based on constraints such as ring range, radial resolution, wavelength, time, lighting geometry, instrument and mission. These tools were prototypes for the Muli-Mission Search tool described above which is much more powerful.

Voyager Image Catalog

Select Voyager Images from the PDS CDROMs based on a broad variety of constraints such as planet, spacecraft, camera, target, filter, exposure time, etc. Preview images and pointers to data are included. Click here to learn more about the Voyager images.

    Standard Query Form

Allows constraints on mission-specific parameters but not on the viewing geometry, lighting geometry or timing of an image.

    Advanced Query Form

Allows constraints on mission-specific parameters plus viewing geometry, lighting geometry, and timing.

Galileo Solid State Imager Catalog

Select images of the Jovian system based on a variety of constraints. Click here to learn more about the Galileo images.

Hubble Space Telescope Image Catalog

Select images of the ringed planets from the Wide Field/Planetary Camera 2 aboard HST based on constraints such as planet, target, filter, exposure time, dates etc. Preview images and pointers to data are included. This database includes images from the Saturn Ring Plane Crossing of 1995.

More Data

Numerous other ring data sets are available but have not yet been integrated into the catalogs.
