      Voyager 2 Uranus HGA Description
    </document_name>

    <description>
      Descriptions of the Voyager 2 high-gain antenna gain pattern and spacecraft attitude reconstruction
      (which provides the HGA pointing) during the spacecraft encounter with Uranus. The document includes
      three files: (1) a JPL interoffice memorandum (IOM) requesting the HGA pointing reconstruction for
      the Uranus encounter; (2) a JPL IOM explaining how the Uranus HGA pointing reconstruction was carried
      out; and (3) a plot of the Voyager S-band antenna gain. File (1) includes a generic request for HGA
      pointing reconstructions, including requirements, dated 1975. It is not known whether File (3) is a
      calculated or measured gain pattern or whether it is for transmit or receive; but a calculated
      pattern for transmit seems most likely. Format of the binary files containing the reconstructed HGA
      pointing differs somewhat from the description given in these files; see data product labels for
      details.

           The document requests a limb track maneuver reconstruction to support analysis of radio science
           observations during the Voyager 2 encounter with Uranus. The file also includes a copy of a
           request for limb track maneuver reconstructions during earlier Voyager encounters.

          It is a plot of HGA S-band gain in dB versus angle off boresight. There is no information in
          the document about provenance -- whether the plot was calculated or measured, or whether it is
          for transmit of receive. A calculated plot for transmit seems most likely.
