Finding the Data You Want
1. Search Options

Use OPUS to search for specific Cassini UVIS data products using a wide range of criteria including enhanced geometric metadata produced at the Rings node. The enhanced geometric metadata includes information appropriate to planet and satelllite searches as well as enhanced ring geometry.
- Search results include data files, tables of associated metadata, and JPG previews for each observation. User selected data files can be bundled as tar.gz files for easy downloading.

The Access UVIS Data tab, associates volumes with data sets, and for each volume gives the time interval covered by the volume and provides a link to the volume.
NOTE: We provide links to individual volumes. Each volume contains data from several different UVIS data sets.
The PDS Atmospheres Node provides links to individual data sets.

- For more detailed searching, you can use the DATASET_ID and Volume_ID, coupled with subdirectory and file names (browse the data directories), or the INDEX.TAB files to find specific data (see below).
2. Interpreting the DATASET_ID
You can use the DATA_SET_ID field to narrow your search. It is in the form CO-[T]-UVIS-2-[DESC]-V1.0, where:
CO is the Cassini Orbiter
[T] is a PDS target ID:
* **X** for cruise data
* **J** for data taken at Jupiter
* **S** for data taken during the Saturn phase of the mission.
UVIS is the instrument name
2 indicates the CODMAC data level (raw)
[DESC] is one of the following abbreviated descriptions of the data set:
* **CALIB** \- Calibration data
* **CUBE** \- A multi-band image (in PDS QUBE format)
* **SPEC** \- A spectrum
* **SSB** \- A time series of photometric (occultation) data
* **WAV** \- An image at one wavelength
3. Interpreting the VOLUME_ID
The volume ID takes the form: COUVIS_XXXX, where:
COUVIS is the PDS abbreviation for Cassini Orbiter, Ultraviolet Imaging Spectrograph
XXXX is the sequential volume number, begining with 0001

4. Volume INDEX Files
All instruments provide some form of metadata index files in the folder called INDEX within each PDS3 volume.
However, RMS Node using later available SPICE kernels, provides extensive metadata tables for this instrument. They are available here: metadata/COUVIS_0xxx.
